An annual cricket championship for underprivileged children is organised in Una, Himachal Pradesh. Every year, around 20 teams fromDelhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Himachal Pradesh participate in Under-14 and Under-16 categories. Talented children are provided coaching, scholarship and sports gear.
Grass-root level tournaments are part of the Football For Growth initiative. Players from among the participants in these tournaments qualify for scholarships. Stairs will facilitate the selection of these players in state and national teams.
Championships are held regularly for underprivileged children under our Khelo programme. Our initiative Sepak For Growth envisages holding grass-root level tournaments. These serve as a platform to select players for scholarships. Stairs facilitates selection of players in state and national teams.
A Mini-Marathon was organised in Dhanbad this year at the launch of our Khelo Jharkand initiative. Besides awards to the top three finishers, free T-shirts were distributed to the first 1,000 registering for the race. We will hold such races across the country to promote sports and the concept of healthy lifestyle.
